Hey does anybody have a facebook? If you do how do you deal with the little security check boxes using jaws? is it possible? Any input would be appriciated.
I have a facebook, and I know not of these "security checkboxes" of which you speak. I get around fine, though for some reason haven't been able to add friends lately. I'm not on it that much anyway, so it doesn't bother me.

If you write to tech support, they'll set it up for you. I've found, that when you want to add a friend, you have to hit enter on the link, then use the jaws cursor to find the add button. I never had to do that before, just recently that started happening.

Hey there. You will need a sighty to help you sign up, and you will need someone to verify your account through a cell phone so you can send messages. But after you complete those steps, you're set. Hope this helps.

I think facebook is safer, but then again, I don't have a myspace. If anyone wants to ad me, ask me for my link or find me in the zone bbs group.
Once you get passed the few sighted sign up things at the beginning, facebook's relatively easy to navigate with Jaws. If you want to add me, just look for Tamesha on the zone group.
I just asked them to remove the code for me and I have no problem now
I use facebook because I'm a mitchell college student. It's pritty jaws friendly for the most part.

I just signed up and it has audio for it's verification. I used Firefox for it and it worked better.

I live in Ohio, and it didn't have my school's network because they haven't created one. But I got placed into the Indiana School for the blind--I don't even live in Indiana!!! Is there any way that you can switch networks without having to sign up again? Thanks.

Go the that network's homepage. Its in one of the options there.

I signed up with facebook yesterday or the day before that. How do you write on your friends' walls, or whatever for their profiles?
Just go to their profiles and it should be there. same with your own wall you have to go to your profile page.
wow... it looks like no one bothers to scroll to the end of the page and read the help pages... that is why it is there for a reason! now, the networks thing can get a bit interesting. It placed me at the Litle Rock, Arkansas network although I could change it to suit my regional preference. Jaws 8 works much better with it as opposed to being frozen. I used the audio to sign up and since my cellphone has talks the text verification message took about 5 minutes to arrive but it was done alright. Writing on others walls is easy to doñ navigate to their profile and on the last heading of the page usually there should be an edit box. You could just hit E you know...

did any one notise,. that the thing that says you need to verify your school that your attending is not there anymore?
lol what the heck? that depends. I know some friends can do it for you where as other times you eed to provide and e-mail address that pertains to that specific school or organizaiont (like a college for example).
Facebook sounds interesting. Not on it though.

I have facebook but my internet explorer or jaws is so slow that I can hardly access it. Does anyone have a solution for that?
I just signed up with Facebook today. It was pretty easy to sign up on but the audio thing that says what to type in the box took a few tries for me to understand because there was garbled background noise in the recording. But since it read it slowly I was able to write it down and reread it then type it in. I'm glad they do have the audio thing at all though. *smile* I'm still in the process of filling out my profile though.

I noticed that some people get a bit application happy.
O yes, verry verry application happy. I keep mine down to a minimum. Find me as Mike Wassel in the zone broup if ya wanna add me. O, and u might wanna use firefox instead of IE. It runs a lot faster in my opinion.
going slightly off topic, does anyone know how to close the facebook chat window using firefox? with IE there is a close chat link. It doesn't appear in firefox. Apparently there is an X that you can click on, but jaws seems to skip over it or not recognise it at all.
I can't get facebook to work too well with firefox. The chat is very difficult to work with, and I can't seem to change my statice message.

how do i find a list of groups and applications with jaws? has anyone played games through facebook? if so which are accessible with jaws?
I use miranda with facebook, so it's a lot easier for me. and as far as playing games throu fb, that i'm not sure of. but for those that have miranda or something and need help setting fb up to work with it pm me and i'll tell you how to do it.
The lite site doesn't work anymore, but I don't have issues with the chat or anything like that.

its much better, and before you ask, yes it is mobile facebook, and YES it does work on the computer its just a regular website, and no you can't use apps on it, and yes you can do everything you need to on there.
I don't think you can join groups on mobile facebook or networks and you can't use apps either which annoys me greatly.

Wow! i can't believe how this topic is still running! Ya know how I said like a few years ago (I can't believe this was posted in 2008), I said I never used facebook? Well, I just gave it up... well, cut down to only logging on twice a week instead of multiple times a day, for lent. Crazy how things change isn't it? :)
